You may know C.J. Lazaretti as the editor of several award-winning British short films. You may know him as the director of Random Clock's upcoming film The Turtle Terminator. But did you know he directed an animated short film as well?
Cosmico, C.J.'s directorial debut, has been nominated for the Best Animated Film award at the 2016 Austin Revolution Film Festival. Heading to Texas in September? So is he:
Cosmico ARFF Screening
23 September, 15:00
DoubleTree University Hotel
(1617 North Interstate 35
Austin TX 78702)
Tickets and festival passes are available from the ARFF website. We're allowing Mr. Lazaretti a short break to get smashed in Austin, but he'd better come back in one piece and finish The Turtle Terminator!
A three-minute animated short inspired by Terry Gilliam's vignettes for Monty Python Flying Circus, Cosmico had its US premiere last December at the South Texas Underground Film Festival, in Corpus Christi. The screening was the latest in a busy festival run, which took C.J.'s controversial religious satire to similar events in Britain, Germany, South Africa, Serbia and Greece, where it won a Special Mention award at the 2015 Athens Animfest.
"Austin's independent film scene can almost rival its peerless live music circuit," says C.J., who studied film in 2009 at the University of Texas at Austin. "I can think of few cities more suitable for an ambitious, uncompromising celebration of indie cinema like the Austin Revolution Film Festival. I'm over the moon to be a part of it."
And so are we, to see C.J.'s talent recognised abroad one more time. Knock 'em dead, pilgrim!
